Days Inn by Wyndham Washington D.C/Connecticut Ave - Stay Inn or Stay Home?

Spending 5 days at The Days Inn from June 22 - 26th was one of our best opportunities for a budget-friendly stay that wasn’t too far from D.C’s city centre. The biggest pro was the location; it is situated 5 mins walking from Van Ness Station (Red Line) which allowed us to get downtown within 20 minutes. Other points of interests we’d hope to visit (Dupont Circle, The Zoo) had accessible bus routes from the hotel too.

Although we did have a car, using public transportation is more sustainable and would allow us to see the city cost-effectively so we went that route. Plus, our hotel offered a flat rate for parking (so we didn’t have to worry about parking on the street).

Unlike other Days Inns I’ve stayed in while travelling through Canada, this one in particular did not offer complementary breakfast. On booking sites like Expedia there is a mention of paid breakfast but upon checking in, staff said they did not have a place to serve breakfast (womp womp!). Instead we got breakfast from a nearby bakery called Bread Furst which I would recommend - its 4.2/5

Avocado & Vegetable Bagel with Seasoned Home Fries for $12USD at Bread Furst

Our room was clean and quiet with a mini fridge but no microwave (so if eating cold food is not your thing, do not bring those restaurant leftovers back to the hotel). The staff were friendly and professional however, there was only one person at a time at reception so service can be a little slow. There was also security at the entrance of the hotel for added safety - which may also speak to the potential state of the hotel’s surrounding location

All In all, we would give The Days Inn a 3.5/5
